peers and trends

"It's a shame that the people who are listening to you the most are only interested in you because they want you and your peers to buy their product."

I think this statement is true because companies are only interested in one thing: making money. They really have no interest in teenage individuals, but make themselves seem like they do in order to earn the consumers trust. Once the trust is earned, they get an inside view of upcoming trends and they can prepare themselves so that they are able to appeal to the largest possible audience once the trend becomes mainstream.
